I’ve worked in and around West End as a massage therapist and acupuncturist for more than 20 years. Opening Moxa on vibrant Boundary Street in 2006 was a dream come true for me. I love being part of this progressive and colourful community, which I find energising and inspiring. I feel embraced and held by it and certainly want to support community in return.

I’m a warm, open and curious person and have experienced immense joy and reward through connecting with all the many different people who’ve attended Moxa over the years. This has only been further enhanced by collaborating with other practitioners as the clinic has evolved and grown.

Clinically, I’m a registered acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, recognised by private health funds as a provider of these services, as well as remedial massage therapy.

I’m particularly interested in treating women’s health and helping couples overcome fertility issues. I also love treating pregnant women, helping them and their partner towards the birthing process, and offering ongoing support postpartum. It’s a unique and special honour to be involved in such an important part of people’s lives.

Having said that, I really enjoy the diversity of my practice and enjoy helping people overcome whatever ailment they might have. Before I was an acupuncturist, I was a massage therapist and still love to combine, for example, acupuncture with techniques that I learned during that time to overcome acute and chronic pain.

No two days are ever the same in my clinic and I really enjoy the challenge that provides. I also enjoy learning and growing as a therapist and working towards the development of my profession. I regularly attend seminars, have taught at the Australian College of Natural Medicine (now Endeavour College) and I’m a former member of the Queensland State Committee of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.

I’ve also undertaken two twelve-month mentorship programs to further broaden and round my knowledge in fertility and women’s health. The first was with Stacey “the babymaker” Roberts who specialises in naturopathic and integrative medical approaches to fertility. The later and most recent was with Andrea Lopez of Mama Medicina.

Andrea taught me the exquisite magic that is womb massage, steaming and other pelvic care practices. I treasure this work and knowledge and am overjoyed to have Lisa Edgerton now offering these services at Moxa. Lisa and I will soon begin offering workshops together to share this wisdom.

Personally, I crave getting out of the city for the quiet and beauty of open spaces and forests. I enjoy being slow and still in nature and also camping, hiking and rock climbing. I feel the next evolution of my practice is to combine my love of Chinese Medicine and its wealth of beauty and spirit with helping others to also enjoy time in nature. I look forward to that beginning in the not-too-distant future.
