The body contains a network of energy pathways known as meridians. Numerous acupuncture points are located along these meridians at very precise locations. Each point may perform specific actions or jobs. By stimulating these points with very fine needles and other techniques, we encourage them to carry out their actions, and restore balance. TCM views you as a complete, interconnected being. An imbalance in one aspect of your health may often suggest other imbalances or issues, which a TCM practitioner is trained to expect and look for. Therefore, you can often be treated for more than one thing at a time including a range of symptoms like pain, stress and fatigue.
Hygiene protocols
We follow strict hygiene protocols at Moxa and use only single-use needles. The needles we use in your acupuncture treatment are opened from sterile packaging and disposed of in sharps containers at the end of your treatment.
No pain
Acupuncture is not painful as such. Sometimes you will certainly feel strong sensations but, mostly, the overwhelming sense is of peace and relaxation. Many people even fall asleep!
Chinese Medicine is generally considered to be safe, but occasionally, as with all health treatments, may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual cases.
Jodi Baldry, our resident acupuncturist, enjoys treating a wide array of general health concerns and is happy to give you honest advice about whether TCM may be an appropriate treatment choice for you.
